Operations & Settlement System |

|
Challenge:
-
This project
was a re-engineering of an existing Mortgage Allocation
System for a major investment bank. The legacy system exists
on a mainframe platform and was written in Natural and
ADABAS.
-
The system is
used to allocate and clear mortgage pools for all TBA
trades. Billions of dollars of mortgage trades get allocated
within a time span of a few minutes before each notification
deadline.
-
We undertook
the project to develop a C++ based system with MQ series
messaging on the Unix platform utilizing Sybase as the
database. The system demanded fast, real-time response rates
with EPN connectivity to MBSCC.

This
was the third attempt by the client at building a
robust system for their business. The two prior
attempts had failed due to insufficient knowledge of
this complex Fixed Income system. On successful
completion of production-quality phase I, Byte’s
team was contracted for further enhancements &
support. |
|
|
 |
The
combination of Fixed Income expertise with a trained
offshore development team allowed the client to
build this system within a compressed timetable and
at a reduced cost.
