Master Security Database |
| |
|
Challenge:
-
Our client, a
money manager, was storing large amounts of fixed income
data from multiple feeds and data sources in their internal
databases. Data sources included feeds from all the rating
agencies, end of day prices from multiple pricing sources,
trustee reports for structured finance transactions, and
real-time prices from vendors such as Bloomberg. The system
had grown such that the treatment of data was inefficient,
and a number of data-related problems were encountered.
-
We were tasked
to redesign the security database infrastructure and to
create utilities and procedures for an organized manner of
inserting new data.

Byte’s approach towards Solution |
|
|
 |
Our approach consisted of designing a new Master
Security Database together with Corporate Family
Tree tables for the large set of fixed income
securities the client was storing.
|
|
|
 |
New
screens, wizards & scripts were also created to
bring order and checks into new data that needed to
be added to the databases. |
|
|
 |
A
specialized mapping program matches updated security
data from daily external feeds to the existing
records in the database.

Value Add |

 |
This
project would not have been possible without our
in-depth understanding of Fixed Income Securities
data and experience with large securities databases.
