We created an Alert Management Subsystem that
monitored updates to database entities such as
securities, cash flows, and security performance.
Email alerts were triggered after an update had
occurred and a particular data condition evaluated.
Likewise, an alert could be triggered if an action
did not occur. In the latter case, a daemon process
utilizes a database of actions that could occur on
some frequency and checks for their occurrence. The
frequency, alert message content, and type of
actions were fully customizable.
