Challenge:

Our client was
relying on Excel spreadsheets to manage their entire
Municipal Trusts business. With hundreds of active trusts,
this solution was too cumbersome and error-prone for the
business.

We were tasked
with the development of a front to back system that allows
traders, structurers, controllers, and operations personnel
to create and manage Municipal Trusts. In addition, all data
residing on spreadsheets had to be migrated to databases.

Byte’s approach towards Solution |

The system was built on Microsoft platform utilizing
Visual Basic for the user interface, supplemented by RogueWave’s Stingray Studio Flexigrid tool for
matrix data manipulation. Reports were produced with
the Crystal Reports report-writing tool. Complex
analytical functions including cash flow generation
were implemented in Visual C++. The system was
tightly integrated with a centralized Sybase
database running on Unix. The database was used as a
conduit for external feeds of common security data
that was utilized in the application.
